What is State Information Commission (SIC)?

Each state in India has its own State Information Commission to hear second appeals related to state government departments, local bodies (municipalities, panchayats), and state public sector undertakings.

Establishment: SICs were established under Section 15 of the RTI Act, 2005.

How to File Second Appeal with SIC

  1. Visit the respective State Information Commission's website
  2. Register as a user
  3. Fill second appeal form with details of RTI application, First Appeal, and FAA order
  4. Upload supporting documents
  5. Pay ₹50 fee (varies by state, BPL exempt)
  6. Submit and note registration number
